focus: Point that's beneath the Earth's surface where rocks that went under stress and breaks,triggering an earthquake.

epicenter: Point that is directly above the focus.

seismic waves: Vibrations that travel through the earth carrying energy that is realeased during a earthquake.

P Waves: An earthquake with seisemic waves that compress and expand the Earth's plates.

S Waves: An earthquake with waves that move from side to side.

surface waves: Waves move slower than P and S waves, but produce the most violent shakeing.

seismograph: Record ground movements of seisemic waves.

Magnetude: Measure of a earthquakes strength.

Mercalli scale: Measures an earthquakes intensity.

Richiter scale:Measures the sizes of the earthquakes waves.
